5,6,7,8 DANCE
JANUARY NEWS
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to a new year! We are very excited about what this season is going to bring to our studio. Here are the things you need to know for this month……
WE ARE OPEN
We hope you had a great holiday, but we are back open tomorrow MONDAY JANUARY 2ND.
CLASS SCHEDULE
The class schedule has changed slightly so please take a look before you come to class this week.
FREE JANUARY PROMOTION
We are offering dance classes for FREE to new students this month under the age of 16!
HOW TO REGISTER
COMPETITIVE CLASSES
We are now taking new competitive students in order to prepare them for the comp season 2024. You will be allowed to join our year end show and you will avoid needing to audition in the spring.
YEAR END RECITAL
We will be holding a season end recital either at the beginning of June. Date TBA for all students 16 and under, as well as any Adult classes that wish to participate.
SHOES / 5678 WEAR
You are allowed to get your own dance wear, but you can also order through us. The turn around is usually one week after ordering.
PARENT VIEWING
We understand that a lot of parents will want to make sure the classes are a good/safe place for their children to be in. But we do recommend that after a couple classes parents can just drop and pick up their dancers. The dancers and the teachers feel more comfortable and get more accomplished this way.
SNOW DAYS/HOLIDAYS
We do not make up classes that have to be cancelled due to weather, for holidays, or for days that you cannot be present. If there is a closure, an e-mail will be sent out to all of you, and it will be posted on the website and our facebook page. We do want you to take care not to drive if you do not feel safe!
Thank you for being a part of the 5,6,7,8 Dance Family. Looking forward to seeing all of the new dancers as well as the current students. 😊
Stuart and Galen wish you all a fantastic 2023.
Dance studio raising funds for Georgian Triangle Humane Society
Dancers will be performing in their windows Dec. 10 and 17 and serving treats as part of the Collingwood Christmas Market while accepting donations for local non-profitJessica Owen
Grab a hot chocolate, take in a curbside show and make a donation to Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
During Collingwood’s Christmas Market on Friday, Dec. 10 and 17, 5678 Dance will be performing out of their new storefront at 201 Hurontario St. while raising money for the local non-profit. The fundraiser is also intended to promote the studio’s new location in Collingwood’s downtown.
While passing out free hot chocolate and treats, the studio will be running dance classes that can be viewed from the window of their new space and, if watchers are feeling brave, they’re encouraged to join in to give dance a chance.
“We want people to come see what it’s all about and try a free class,” said Galen Lessels.
Galen and Stuart Lessels co-own the studio, with Stuart responsible for the technology side and Galen as the lead dance instructor.
Galen says the studio first moved into their new spot on Hurontario right as COVID-19 hit in March 2020. Throughout the pandemic, the studio has pivoted between running virtual classes while completing renovations on the space, and in-person classes, depending on current advice from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
The studio first tried the curbside classes as a Halloween event, and Galen said she was surprised by the turnout.
“We had line-ups because we were the only ones giving out hot chocolate. We were jammed most of the night. At 8 p.m. we still had people watching dances,” said Galen. “So far, we’ve raised $200 for [GTHS].”
Each evening during the Christmas Market has a theme. On Dec. 3, the advanced dancers took the stage. On Dec. 10, the dancing will focus on the children’s classes, while the Dec. 17 show will feature adult ballet and tap, as well as a full hour of Zumba.
“We want to show off all their skills,” she said. “People can come by and get a taste of the energy that is off the charts. There’s no harm in trying a free class.”
Collingwood’s Downtown Christmas Market is running Dec. 10 and 17 from 5 to 8 p.m.
